Travelling bags

We drove 6 hours south on Friday and 6 hours back north on Sunday. It was too cold to travel by motorbike so we rented a car. It was a rather nice Volvo SUV and not an electric car after our disaster last year.

I prefer being on the bike as the trip itself is fun, but having a car is nice as I can pack more. I don’t generally overpack or underpack, but I always pack too few of some things and too many of others. This time I ran out of socks but had an extra sweater. Socks are easy to fix as you can either wash them overnight or pop out and buy some.

I used my South African travel bag, which I love. It is covered with South African slang words and images so typical of the country, and is also perfectly sized and designed. It cost very little but is great quality and has a faux leather bottom with feet which makes it more durable.

I also took my black Kipling Gabbie, and my vintage train case for my toiletries and medication. I love this train case, which I found brand new for $14 in a charity store a couple of years ago. I normally keep our household medicines in it if I am not using it for travel. I think it is from the 1970s.
