Scrunchies

I really love scrunchies. My hair can be uncontrollable, so they are nice to do half-up half-down styles, as well as for sleeping and a full bun. Normal elastic bands ‘disappear’ in my hair, so scrunchies make me feel like I am wearing another accessory.

I wore scrunchies all the time during the 1980s, after which I suffered from scrunchie burnout (the 1980s was not a good fashion decade to hit your peak…). In the early 2000s, I started wearing leather ones from Rokit London, then moved to fabric ones. I now have knitted ones, silk ones, shweshwe ones, bobbled ones, giant ones…

The lovely Eva and Klaudija have sent me scrunchies too, which I love because I can think of you friends as I go about my day. It means so much to me.

The two below are quite interesting. The one on the left is made of microfibres and can be used just after swimming or washing your hair. It absorbs the water from your hair so that the hair under the scrunchie dries. Not completely, but enough so that you don’t end up with a wet head. The one on the right is just because I love Roses.
